A Morning in Building #5: The First Morning

Grade ten students at schools in the province of Ontario were subjected to literacy tests. This was one of many new implementations by dastardly former Ontario Premier Mike Harris.

I was still in school at the time, but not in grade ten. During the two mornings of the literacy tests, only grade ten students had to be in school, which meant that the rest of us had to find something else to do. I wanted to do something productive.

On the first of the two mornings, I walked from my school to the old Whitby Psychiatric Hospital. At the time, I had never been into building #28 (the recreation hall), nor had I explored the tunnels beneath the old hospital.

I wanted to use the tunnels to access building #28. Building #5 (a "cottage") was closest to building #28, so presumably, it would provide the shortest route.

The doors to building #5 were all boarded up, and without an easy means of entry. Assuming there was a reason for this, I left the building, and spent the rest of the morning taking photographs of the exteriors of several buildings.
